Grand Meadow Heritage Center Grand Meadow Heritage Center Grand Meadow Heritage Center is a historical museum with a focus on the rural way of life. They have been really hitting it hard with their festivals and fundraising, so they decided on a brand upgrade to assist with their efforts. Over there on the right was their existing logo. Now I’m not going to go into full-out logo shaming mode. It serves its purpose and with a little tweaking of the text it could be a functional logo. I liked the color they were using and understood what they were portraying. I used their color but dropped the silhouette and went with something more detailed. There’s just something rustic, classic, and timeless about pencil drawings. So I went with that. The rebrand has helped by not only attracting new people to their festivals but also improving their perception by prospective donors and grant holders. Raffle Calendar This is the second year we’ve done the fundraiser calendars for the Anthon Fire Department. We must have done something right the first time! We do the design, layout, and printing of 1000 calendars. The calendars are numbered and serve as a raffle ticket, 2 drawings for firearms are done each month. Definitely one of my favorite projects. The Challenge Creek Fest was a 2 day event along the banks of Mill Creek outside of Cherokee, Iowa. As the owners entered their 5th year of throwing the event they realized the need to put a face on this monster they created. A new logo, website, and brochure resulted. The Solution The owners described the event as a 2 day, around the clock party in a pasture along a creek. I chose light colors to capture the festival party feel. Stars were added with the shaded tree to give the effect of both sunrise and sunset (party around the clock). This is a country music festival so naturally a 6 string was chosen as the logo outline. The worn typeface rounds out the rural feel. Update: Creekfest is now defunct.
